Traditional Poses or Reportage: The Main Decision about Your Wedding Photographs
The main thing you have to decide for your wedding photography is whether you would prefer to have a traditional set of photographs where the wedding party and guests are predominantly 'posed' for the photos, or whether you would prefer to have a set of 'reportage' photos where the photos tell the story of the day without necessarily 'posing' anyone and where the subjects are very often not looking at the camera. Of course these two main options can be mixed to whatever extent you decide: We find that although the bride and groom may opt for 'reportage' photography, parents and grandparents will expect to see themselves in traditional 'posed' photographs, and even where couples opt for traditional 'posed' photgraphs, we inevitably take a great many spontaneous photographs in between the posed photographs. It really is just a case of getting the balance right in the time available.

Traditional Album or Printed Photo Book
A 'Photo Book' is simply a large bound book (approximately 12" x 12") containing machine printed pages. Although there is nothing to prevent a set of traditional photographs being printed in a Photo Book, we are of the opinion that traditional 'posed' photographs are better suited to traditional photo albums and that 'reportage' photos are better suited to photo books. Photo books allow us to design collage pages containing more than one photo (and if required, at different sizes), which is ideal for 'reportage' photography or a mix of reportage and traditional photography. One of the great advantages of photo books is that they allow many more photos to be included and that additional photo books are very inexpensive compared to duplicate albums becasue most of the cost is in the artwork and design and not the actual printing.

If in any doubt about your options, please contact us to discuss.

Order of the Day: Getting the Job Done
* We will arrive at the wedding venue approximately 35 minutes before the start of the wedding and photograph the Groom, Best Man, Ushers and any family members.
* If the Bride is leaving from an address close to the wedding venue (up to 5 miles or so), there may also be time to take some photographs of the Bride at the house. If so, this would be approximately 50 minutes before the start of the wedding.
* We will take photographs of the Bridal Party (Bride, Bridesmaids and Bride's family) when they arrive at the wedding venue just before the wedding begins.
* If you wish, and if your minister or priest allows, we will take a few shots during the wedding ceremony. Most ministers and priests don't mind a few shots at 'exchange of rings' and 'you may kiss the bride'. Unfortunately we cannot guarantee this - so it's best for you to ask well in advance of the wedding
* We will take photographs of you signing the marriage schedule. Although your minister or priest will always allow us to 'set' these photographs up after you have signed the schedule - they do not normally allow us to photograph the 'live' signings.
* When the ceremony is finished we will take photographs of you coming up the aisle. If the aisle is short and narrow we may ask you to pause for a few seconds. If the aisle is long and wide, we will be able to get these photographs without having to pause the procession.
* After the ceremony we will take the formal wedding photographs. This can be either outside the church, inside the church or at a nearby park or public gardens, or at the reception venue, if suitable. We'll be happy to advise you on various venues close to your wedding venue, if required. These photographs will include the wedding party and any immediate family members who are present.
*

At the Reception Venue we will normally take photos of you with your friends and extended families. Depending on the available daylight and venues this is sometimes best done outside the church, before the wedding party's photographs. When you tell us where your wedding venue and reception venue are, we will be better able to advise you.

* At the reception venue we will take formal photographs of the Bride and Groom arriving to a 'reception' and also 'cutting' the cake. The cake is not actually cut at this time - it is just a photographic pose. At this point we will now have all of the photos which would be considered as the traditional set of wedding photos. Any photos after this point become less formal.

Options on Traditional Photo Albums
We book our jobs on the basis of a nominal album price of £50 which is around the middle of the price range. However it could be that the photo album you choose is more or less expensive than the nominal £50. Most of our customers are happy to budget for £50 and choose the album shortly before or even just after the wedding - and this is what we recommend. But there's absolutely no harm in looking and we suggest that you look at our Photo Albums page and visit our supplier's web site to get an idea of what is (currently) available. If you wish you can provide your own photo album and we will populate it for you with the photos you choose. Most albums have 24 leaves which allows 48 photos to be mounted, but some albums may take less or more photographs and prices for prints may therefore vary slightly. Please see our price list for exact details.

Options on Printed Photo Books
For the purposes of quotations we usually ask our customers to allow for a photo book which has 20 leaves (40 pages). The eventual photo book may be one with more or less pages, in which case the artwork charge will vary slightly. Please see our price list for exact details. Our photo books measure 12" x 12" (30cm x 30cm) and come in a range of colours and finishes. Colours: black, blue, brown or beige. Finishes: Linen or Faux Leather. Books can be plain covered or can come with a full colour printed cover or a full colour outside wrapper. Please see our Albums and CDs page for examples.
